Malagueta Pepper is a variety of Capsicum frutescens widely used in Angola, Cape Verde, Brazil, Mozambique and Portugal.

It is also known by the names piripiri[1], jindungo[2], maguita-tuá-tuá, cumarim[3], ndongo, nedungo. In Angola, Mozambique and Portugal, the smaller fruits are called piripiri and the larger ones are called chilli. Typically, they are used dried to season meats.

Chili peppers, like all other species of the Capsicum genus, are native to tropical regions of the Americas.
