THE VALUE OF THE SEA - by Miguel Marques, André Panno Beirão, Rogerio Raupp Ruschel
The Value of the Sea reveals the importance of the ocean for Brazilians in all its dimensions and proposes a reflection on the country's need to have a sustainable development project for sea resources. In 248 pages, with dozens of tables, tables, maps and photos, with texts by journalists and experts from Brazil and abroad, the work portrays the current situation of our sea in activities such as ports and logistics, transport, naval industry, energy, oil and gas, fishing and aquaculture, biotechnology and the environment by rigorous journalistic survey. But it goes further and highlights the relevance of the sea (and rivers) in Brazilian culture present in music, arts, folklore, literature and religiosity and highlights its presence in regional cuisine, tourism, sports and in our daily lives. The first edition of O valor of the sea was the theme of Aula Magna at Coppe-UFRJ; a Technical Colloquium at the Naval War College (EGN) and a debate at the Fernando Henrique Cardoso Foundation. It was also the subject of a 90-day exhibition at the São Paulo Metro and launched in Lisbon, at the invitation of PwC Portugal, in partnership with Editora Náutica Nacional (ENN). The book was presented at Semana do Mar 2019 in São Paulo, at seminar Portugal Inova of the Agency for Investment and Foreign Trade of Portugal, in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo and at an event to award awards to the best cases of Corporate Sustainability in Brazil. At the invitation of the Brazilian Navy and with the support of organizations such as Amazônia Azul Tecnologias de Defesa SA (AMAZUL) and Nuclebrás Equipamentos Pesados SA (NUCLEP), we have reviewed and updated the work you have in your hands and will certainly repeat your successful trajectory.
