The inside of the skin - by Jeferson Tenório
The inside of the skin - by Jeferson Tenório
Descrição
Now that his father has died, unexpectedly and prematurely, Pedro has little else to hold on to other than the teachings and memories left by his father, a Literature teacher in the public school system. And a black man, in a country that judges men and women by the color of their skin. Empty by his absence, Pedro retraces Henrique's steps on the streets, looking for traces of him in the belongings left in the apartment. Reduced by his mother's wishes to an intermittent relationship with his father, Pedro is left with the possibility of reconstructing or imagining Henrique's past as a man, as a father and, along the way, seeking to understand himself. In this intimate route by Pedro, Jeferson Tenório makes a delicate investigation of the relationships between parents and children, at the same time that he sketches a powerful portrait of a country marked by segregation and poverty, in which many cannot sometimes show or feel their inside out, this space where "between muscles, organs and veins there is a place of its own, isolated and unique".
