Descrição
Currently, in governments, in the private sector and, above all, in the protection sector, a ubiquitous notion of security prevails - against terrorist threats, against the actions of hackers, but also against others, the unknown. Since risk lurks in the most unexpected corners of everyday life, we comply with security measures for our own good - and thus we become "voluntary servants" of a surveillance that is not visible, invisible, but that sees us. In Liquid Surveillance, Zygmunt Bauman reflects on the fluidity of security in today's world. And it explains the proliferation, everywhere, of control devices, which include everything from surveillance cameras to body scanners. Like everything in liquid modernity, surveillance is diluted and insinuates itself into everyday life, culminating in digital inspection mechanisms, put into practice via the internet and social networks.
