While recovering in the hospital after being run over, Alaíde is haunted by memories of her troubled past with Lúcia, the sister from whom she stole her boyfriend, and by memories read in the diary of a prostitute from the beginning of the 20th century. Articulated in three scenic planes — that of reality in the hospital; that of the hallucination with Madame Clessi, the prostitute; and the memory of the conflict between the sisters —, the play Vestido de Noiva was Nelson Rodrigues' first great public success and a milestone in Brazilian dramaturgy.
