Descrição
Critical and propositional, bell hooks defends a feminist revolution that transcends reforms, confronting the ideologies of sexism, racism and capitalism, among others. Defending feminism means not admitting any type of oppression over (or among) women. It is considering men as potential oppressors, but also potential comrades in the struggle. In accessible language, the author criticizes the still current problems of feminism, which tends to be white, middle class, academic, heteronormative and unequal. On the other hand, it proposes the feminist revolution idealized by black women. Different women, from the center and the margins, in political solidarity, with the partnership of men, focusing on the reframing of relationships. The black feminist revolution is a fight for liberation, for everyone. A basic work of black feminism that, by addressing the processes of oppression of black women, of women located on the margins, gives meaning to the centrality of the feminist struggle, to confronting heteronormative patriarchal racism. Feminism is an ethical, political, theoretical and practical commitment to transforming society from an anti-racist, anti-sexist, anti-lesbophobic, anti-homophobic, anti-transphobic, anti-capitalist perspective. Feminist Theory: From the Margin to the Center is, therefore, a call for the construction of a new social order.
