Book, We also keep stones here[LS]
Descrição
Luiza Romão's stones have less to do with the stones in Virginia Woolf's pocket, and more to do with the stones thrown by the Palestinians in Sheikh Jarrah: an act that is both concrete and symbolic, of self-defense and resistance to neocolonialism. Luiza's stones have more to do with Drummond's stone, João Cabral's, the stone of the protest songs of Clã Nordestino, Nina Simone, Pete Seeger, Barbara Dane and Selda Bağcan. With “we also keep stones here”, Luiza Romão manages to insert moments of caress and existential restoration, without losing a critical perspective. That, in 2021, is all we want: to continue perfecting ourselves, improving ourselves, as human beings and political subjects, and at the same time feeling a little pleasure, a little relief, to charge our batteries, to May we return to reality, ready to fight. A book to rediscover as you go along. I have no doubt about that.
