Language: Brazilian Portuguese. In a dystopian but at the same time strangely familiar city, in front of the tomb that bears her name, Lúcia meets Betina. This is the beginning of a journey that involves the revelation of family mysteries, the confrontation of ghosts, the recognition of individual and collective defeats, as it involves visiting a past that an entire generation is still trying to elaborate or forget. A woman who was unable to live her own life and a young woman searching for her mother, who disappeared during the military dictatorship, launch themselves into a game of proximity and distance in the middle of a socially, economically and politically rotten city, where the insecurity, the water crisis, coups d'état and a corrupt political elite, including a psychopathic mayor who ordered the walls to be painted gray, are the portrait of what has been built since the end of utopias. In a plot marked by twists, resentments, doubts and the search for truth, Lúcia reflects on the misery of the human condition, jealousy, bastardy and the disguises that everyone is forced to put on in an attempt to survive and give meaning to their lives. In this novel, Marcia Tiburi elaborates on the condition of victim of history that concerns each of us, and forces us to look closely at deep historical wounds that require courage to see what cannot be forgotten to prevent them from happening again.
