Book, Am I a Feminist?[LS]

Written by one of the main journalists in Latin America, a courageous manifesto, free from doctrines, so that we can increasingly think (and live) feminism in all its diversity. Alma Guillermoprieto has dedicated much of her career to covering conflicts and social movements throughout Latin America. Throughout her career, she portrayed in chronicles and reports the story of ordinary women, survivors of the most diverse types of violence. In this book, she reflects on her own position as a woman and asks herself: Am I a feminist? Without claiming to have all the answers, she recounts her memories as a young woman in the machista Mexican society and her feminist references; recalls meetings with leaders and activists; exposes his vision of the sexist, racist and homophobic structure that murdered Marielle Franco; and also makes considerations regarding the #MeToo movement. At the same time as evoking personal experiences, Guillermoprieto reinterprets women's historical struggles, highlighting advances as significant as the contraceptive pill and the right to vote, without letting us forget the dry road that still lies ahead.
