In her first comic book, illustrator Luli Penna uses São Paulo in the 1920s to create a beautiful and tragic love story. São Paulo in the 1920s is a city undergoing transformation. At every corner, the effects of modernization can be felt, whether in architecture, culture or in the habits of its residents. Lola is a typical resident of the city, which means that she also had part of her future defined by her parents. However, things do not always go as they should. Without mercy is the story of a couple who fall in love in São Paulo, but also a walk through its neighborhoods, a generous look at the newspapers and cinemas of the time, and perhaps an answer about the meaning of this infamous modernization.
