Book, Street of the World[LS]

In Lisbon, at the end of the 1920s, Rua do Mundo had its name changed to Rua da Misericórdia. This urban fact served as the reason for the poem that gives the book its title, an emotional conversation with the Portuguese poet Luiza Neto Jorge. At the same time, it is the starting point for the two complementary lines that give the tone of Rua do Mundo: the street as a metaphor for the world and the image of the world as a street. From this perspective, everyday things gain density and poetic value, and at the same time what seems distant and impalpable gains the proximity of things we know and that recognize us. An important element of Eucanaã Ferraz's poetics is the clarity that permeates all of her poems. Even in shadow, sadness and death it is possible to perceive the clarity of the day, of forms and senses, the sudden flash of desires.
