As a response to institutionalized racism in our country, Quilombismo proposes solutions, anticipates themes and reveals new horizons of public action in Brazil. Written with the verve, depth and indignation that characterized all of Abdias Nascimento's work and struggle and having come to light in the throes of the paradoxical 1970s, times of oppression but also of libertarian creativity, this book proposes, in its ten documents, an action program, drawn up from the perspective of Afro-descendants, which revisits the communal experience of quilombos to, from there, base a proposal for mobilization and socio-political transformation in confronting the atmosphere of diffuse and insidious prejudice that suffocates their existence. If Abdias is asiwajú, the Ogun who opens paths, this is his aggadah, a sword wielded against the omnipresent and centuries-old enemy of human equality, as essential today as yesterday.
