Book, Engineering Projects an introduction 1/17[LS]
Descrição
There is a global trend among Engineering faculties to offer students knowledge about design at the beginning of the course. This initiative, however, has encountered as a barrier the scarce existing teaching material suitable for students in the basic undergraduate cycle. Engineering Projects – An Introduction was launched to meet this need, based on one of the largest and most successful Engineering project programs, offered by the University of Toronto, in Canada. The book is made up of short modules, each addressing a specific learning outcome and connected to the other modules. It emphasizes the definition of problems and scope combined with a creative solution process, leaving more traditional and code-based design practices in the background. Quite comprehensive, the work includes relevant material on communication, team strategies and project management. Its approach is based on the premise that design thinking makes up the basic engineering training cycle. In this sense, it helps to model the understanding of other subjects in accordance with professional practice, which stimulates and motivates students throughout the course. In addition to the textbook, the work has online modules, which detail and complement the content, and are available on GEN-IO, GEN's virtual learning environment | National Editorial Group, upon registration.
