Book, Probability Applications to Statistics 2/87[LS]
Descrição
Many Mathematics topics can be presented at different stages of difficulty, and this is true when it comes to Probability. In this book, Probability - Applications to Statistics, an effort is made to take advantage of the reader's mathematical base, without going beyond it. Although some concepts are introduced and explained in a non-formal way, definitions and theorems are carefully stated. When a detailed proof of a theorem is not feasible or desirable, at least an outline of the important concepts is provided. A peculiar feature of this book are the "comments" that follow most of the theorems and definitions. Three quarters of the book are dedicated to probabilistic subjects, while the last quarter is dedicated to an explanation of Inference and Statistics. In this 2nd edition, an effort was made to provide more clarification on the relationship between various probability distributions, so that the student can achieve a greater understanding of how different probabilistic models can be used to approximate each other. In addition to the 330 problems proposed to the reader, there are numerous solved examples spread throughout the book.
