Book, Prejudice, racism and politics[LS]
Descrição
The persistent relevance of his arguments and thoughts in Anatol Rosenfeld's work is striking, almost forty years after his death. A possible explanation for this lies, without a doubt, in the scope of his reasoning that goes far beyond the specificity of the subjects he focuses on, which, let it be said, is not trivial. The shrewd critic never let slip, in his analyses, the historical, political and cultural perspectives of the phenomena under his gaze. Prejudice, Racism and Politics brings together essays and articles from the period in which international politics was the main focus of his contributions to our press. Organized by Nanci Fernandes for the Debates collection, following the project to publish the author's texts that the publishing house Perspectiva has been developing, we come across, once again, the sharpness, pertinence and objectivity of this thinker. Rosenfeld, through the themes covered, outlines a panorama as disturbing as it is current of the world and society in which his life took place and in which we live, highlighting the responsibilities of the State and individuals in the tragic, if not grotesque, inconsequentiality of their ideas and their actions, in all spectrums of their resonances, especially those of a social and cultural nature, which propagate through increasingly electronic media, in the wake of facts and events. It will not be an exaggeration to say that Anatol Rosenfeld, as a thinker, belongs to the lineage that the German school and the spirits of Benjamin, Adorno, Horkheimer and Arendt gave rise to. - JG and SK
