Book, Poetics on stage, One: Meierhold, Blók, Mayakovsky[LS]

A 'Poetics on Stage' brings, for the first time in Portuguese, the fruits of the partnership between three of the biggest names in theater and poetry. Vladímir Mayakóvski, Vsévolod Meierhold and Aleksándr Blók were some of the most restless and innovative characters in Russian arts. From their partnerships, Barraca de Feira and 'Os Banhos' were born, written by Blók and Mayakovsky respectively, and staged by Meierhold, fruits of the same avant-garde impetus that accompanied them throughout their lives. 'Barraca de Feira', seen today as a synthesis of Meierhold's work, brings up the discussion about the relationship between what is written and what is performed in symbolist language. The Baths, a courageous futuristic play that satirized the bureaucracy of the public administration of the Stalinist USSR, causing great controversy upon its reception.
