Book, Performance as language[LS]
Descrição
Language: Brazilian Portuguese. In its movement of rapprochement between life and art, performance rescues a radical practice, in which an instinctual and existential creativity is given vent that transmutes its elements of expressiveness of the here and now of experience and expands the frontiers of investigation and experimentation artistic. Heir to disruptive movements such as Dada, happenings and counterculture, performance has provoked, in recent decades, a revitalization of the arts, breaking with stratified representation and theatrical conventions and giving dynamism to the spectacle scene, as well as to the visual arts. In Performance as Language, Renato Cohen, researcher and performer, investigates the specificities of this new language and, in a confrontation with the theater scene, analyzes the solutions that the performance spectacle gives to the problems of creation, staging and performance. From the observation of the achievements of artists such as Joseph Beuys, Laurie Anderson and groups such as Fluxus, among others, the different aspects of performance are focused, which will give ritualization to conceptual art, as well as the so-called theater of images. Studying the manipulation of signs with which artists create these forms of imagistic and expressive incarnation of scenic spaces, he proposes a kind of 'anti-media' that opposes the discourse of institutionalized media.JG
