Book, Pedagogy of possible dreams[LS]
Descrição
Language: Brazilian Portuguese. "Paulo Freire analyzes possibilities of the education system in the process of social change. Originally published in 2014, Pedagogy of possible dreams is composed of testimonials, conferences, essays, letters and dialogues. In addition to insisting on the indissoluble unity between theory and practice, it convinces us the need for respect for human rights, tolerance for the different and the unfeasibility of human existence without utopias, without hope and without dreams. Organized by Ana Maria Araújo Freire, Pedagogy of possible dreams has a preface by educator Ana Lúcia Souza de Freitas. In 1963, in Angicos, in the interior of Rio Grande do Norte, three hundred rural workers were taught literacy in just 40 hours, using the method proposed by Paulo Freire. This was the result of the pilot project of what would become the National Literacy Program for government of João Goulart, president who would be deposed in March 1964. In October of that same year, Freire left Brazil to protect his own life. He only visited the country again in 1979, with the democratic opening. Throughout his history, Paulo Freire received more than one hundred honorary doctorates from several national and foreign universities, in addition to numerous awards, such as Education for Peace, from UNESCO, and the Order of Cultural Merit, from the Brazilian government. Member of the International Adult and Continuing Education Hall of Fame and the Reading Hall of Fame. “The more the dominated people mobilize within their culture, the more they unite, grow and dream - and are involved in the act of knowing. Fantasy, in fact, anticipates tomorrow's knowledge. I don't know why so many people ignore fantasy in the act of getting to know each other. Either way, all these acts constitute the dominated culture that wants to free itself.” "
