The Sinless Woman, from 1941, is his first play, written, he says, to make money. More than fair reason. Genius, however, imposes on the creator a destiny beyond himself. In an apparently simple plot, we already find traces of his writing. Olegário, confined to a wheelchair, is married to Lídia, his second wife, for whom he has an unhealthy jealousy. Driven by his obsession, he creates a true network of spies, characters close to his wife, to have proof, not of the truth, but of what is eating away at his insides. “The only thing that interests me is whether or not to be betrayed!”, says Olegário, this arrogant Hamlet, without a castle, without a kingdom, but possessed by his existential dilemma. But Hamlet's father was really murdered, and Lydia is faithful! Knowing or intuiting the mechanisms of great dramaturgy, Nelson offers us a surprising ending.
