With richly illustrated content and using several examples, the work presents content on the vector control of induction machines, whether cage rotor or double-fed, as well as multiphase induction machines, in addition to the bases of electromechanical energy conversion and operation in steady state of direct current, induction and synchronous machines. The impact of vector control on high dynamic performance and steady-state applications has profoundly changed the approach given to the modeling of alternating current machines, making the teaching of so-called spatial vectors mandatory, which, for this reason, are covered in an entire chapter. The structure of each chapter is based on the exposition of the theory, with the description and obtaining of the fundamental equations of electrical machines, with examples being presented with the aim of illustrating the concepts discussed in the theory. Exercises are proposed at the end of the chapters.
