The first — and long-awaited — major biography of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva. Beyond judgments or passions, Lula is among the greatest political figures in Brazilian history. The only president of the country with working-class origins, and the magnetic field of a party deeply original in its roots, he exercised charismatic power and influence in a more lasting way than any other public man in the republican period, except perhaps Getúlio Vargas – with whom he also shares the virulence of opponents. Since 2011, Fernando Morais has gained direct, frank and frequent access to Lula. To these dozens of hours of testimonies, he added his reporter's flair and captivating prose to compose a biographical project that presents a panel of the character in all his grandeur and complexity.
