A renowned translator of Sophocles, Aeschylus, Euripides, among others, Trajano Vieira focuses on what remains of fragments of prose, from the beginnings of Greek lyric. In the new volume of the Signos collection, the author presents translations of fragments remaining from ancient Greece, focusing on the form of language and the play on words, the sole guardian of the aesthetic pleasure inherent to poetry, whose master key carries the translator. Among the poets translated by Vieira are seven of the lyricists, Álcman, Alcaeus, Sappho, Stesichorus, Ibicus, Anacreon and Simonides, in addition to Archilochus, Hipponax and Semônides and Mimnermus, included in this volume by the translator's design.
