Tercio Sampaio Ferraz Jr.'s ability to encourage the reader to rethink and reclassify concepts. This book is not a simple exposition of basic concepts of legal science, nor a synthetic display of theories and conceptions of the legal phenomenon. Introduction to the Study of Law seeks to go through the labyrinths of systematizations and classifications typical of dogmatic knowledge, interspersing them with historical, philosophical, sociological and political explanations. From the beginning, the exhibition also has a personal and creative touch, whilst providing the basic elements of legal science in accordance with its classical tradition. With this, a certainly intentional effect is obtained: presenting law as a concrete social experience, and not just as a logical chain of definitions or a boring list of theories. Finally, being expository and inquisitive, the text is also subtly critical, leading to reflection on the world of consumer society and the science of Law as a decision technology.
