Descrição
Introduction to Atmospheric Chemistry ‒ Science, Life and Survival presents a didactic study of the atmosphere, with emphasis on the environmental impacts caused by human action, such as climate change, atmospheric pollution and rampant deforestation. Divided into five parts, it respectively presents general aspects, photochemical and chemical reactions, laboratory experiments and legal aspects relating to Atmospheric Chemistry. There was the inclusion of a chapter on Legislation pertinent to the atmosphere, as well as global or international attempts – meetings, conventions, protocols (including the Kyoto Protocol) – to create Atmospheric Protection Standards. To deepen learning, there are many solved exercises and dozens of illustrative figures. Currently, Introduction to Atmospheric Chemistry ‒ Science, Life and Survival is one of the few books in Portuguese on the topic. It is recommended for undergraduate students in Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, and for others interested in preserving the atmosphere and the impacts of human action on our planet. The book received the Jabuti award, offered by the Brazilian Book Chamber, in 2009, in the Exact Sciences, Technology and IT category.
