Book, Man and the Earth, The: nature of geographic reality[LS]
Descrição
At the time Man and the Earth was composed, the work remained, with rare exceptions, ignored. However, its current reading revealed not the dated nature of the text, but a surprising currentness. A small masterpiece that Perspectiva's Studies collection is now publishing in Portuguese, the book is an authentic precursor of geography studies based on phenomenology as a way of accessing the perception and representation of the earth's environment by the human mind. It is up to the reader to measure the richness of this geographic philosophy and, guided by Eric Dardel's innovative thinking, uncover the foundation of this proposal that makes geography 'the means by which man realizes his existence, insofar as the Earth is an essential possibility of its destiny', revealed as it is by the human gaze on the signs, their meanings and their values, in the light of this philosophical perception, whose object is the Earth.
