Language: Brazilian Portuguese. Lobão lets loose and tells you everything you ever wanted to know about Brazilian rock from the 80s. With a lot of humor and, as it couldn't be otherwise, without mincing words, Lobão relives his friendships, his partnerships, his first defeats, his disappointments. , drugs, low self-esteem, bad recordings and, at the same time, the great songs that marked the history of national rock and the 1980s in this Politically Incorrect Guide to the 80s through Rock. He confronts the contradictions of those years, their political atmosphere and the lack of interest of the new generation of musicians who emerged in what he calls the “worn out and stilted language of the naive, presumptuous and reactionary MPB”. The 1980s became known as the lost decade. But, despite the weird hairstyles, the shoulder pads, the Xou da Xuxa, and the hyperinflation, they were also years of a lot of rock and roll. Through the eyes of someone who embraced the thug life of that time, the Politically Incorrect Guide to Rock's 80s presents an irreverent, sincere and personal portrait of Brazil from behind the scenes of one of its main cultural expressions. Taking due temporal distance from the events, Lobão (at the same time one of the founding partners of that rock and one of its biggest critics) spares no words to, once and for all, tell all the truths about the 80s – of his joy initial and real hope for decadence. “Why did the best of this decade fade away? Why didn't he leave any legacy? Were the deaths of key artists a decisive factor? This certainly contributed dramatically to the collapse... But was that all? This is what we will see”, writes the author. This is a true representative of the Politically Incorrect family. A guide full of barbs, irony, and controversy, as expected from a book in this collection, and also from a work written by Lobão. About the author: Born in Rio de Janeiro in 1957, Lobão began his career as a drummer with the group Vímana (with Lulu Santos and Ritchie), in 1974, and, later, with Blitz. In 1982 he released his first solo album, Cena de Cinema. Composer of great hits such as "Me Chama", "Vida Bandida", "Rádio Blá", "Decadence avec Elegance", "Vida Louca Vida" and "Corações Psicodélicos", in 1999 he decided to self-release the album A Vida É Doce , which, sold on newsstands throughout Brazil, reached the position of second best-selling album of his career. From 2003 to 2008 he edited the magazine OutraCoisa, which each edition featured a CD by an independent musician (BNegão, Cachorro Grande and Mobojó, among others). In 2007 he released the CD and DVD Acústico MTV, which won him the Grammy for Best Rock Album. Politically Incorrect Guide to the 80s by Rock is his fourth book, after the bestsellers 50 Years to a Thousand, Manifesto do Nada na Terra do Never and In Search of Rigor and Mercy.
