With grace and humor, the comic presents a new and surprising version of the biblical story. Goliath of Gath is not a great soldier. If it were up to him, he would rather take on administrative tasks than participate in combat. This changes when the king of the Philistines sends him to challenge the Israelites. In his version of the biblical story, Tom Gauld sees Goliath not as the warrior we have become accustomed to, but as a soft-spoken bureaucrat with quiet habits. The mythological narrative transforms into a subtle portrait of this character who, in his defeat by David, always symbolized the primacy of intelligence over brute force.
