Book, Essential Gastroenterology 4/11[LS]

The fourth edition of Essential Gastroenterology presents some differences compared to the previous one. The first and most important novelty is the inclusion of professor Maria do Carmo Friche Passos as an associate author. Doctor Maria do Carmo is a Professor at the Faculty of Medicine of UFMG. It is a well-known name in national Gastroenterology, especially among those interested in functional diseases of the digestive system. Its inclusion certainly enhances this edition of the book and is very welcome. In addition to this new feature, the text of the fourth edition has been completely revised to comply with the standards of the most recent Portuguese Language Orthographic Agreement. From a scientific point of view, the work was completely revised. Two chapters were excluded because they were no longer relevant to clinical Gastroenterology or because they dealt with an already routine propaedeutic test; others had the collaboration of new authors or were included because they deal with recent knowledge, as in the case of chapter 113 - Intestine and Multivisceral Transplantation. The new edition that reaches the market of this work, which is a reference on the subject, is abundantly documented with illustrations and, in relation to previous editions, there was an increase in colored illustrations.
