Descrição
Language: Brazilian Portuguese. This book brings together in a single volume texts spread over more than thirty years of clinical research, which laid the foundations of Freudian clinical structures: neurosis, psychosis and perversion. The main axes of psychoanalytic psychopathology were established in an arc that begins in the context of correspondence with Fließ, at the end of the 19th century, until the famous articles on masochism and fetishism, written between the wars. Although more or less a century separates us from these writings, they remain contemporary. Freud was not only ahead of his time, but also ours. For example, when he states that “Pathology could not do justice to the problem of the immediate cause of disease in neuroses as long as it was concerned only with deciding whether these affections were of an endogenous or exogenous nature”. Perhaps even today a certain psychopathological discourse is trapped in this poor dichotomy between genetic or environmental, biological or psychological factors. The Freudian perspective is more modern and bolder: “Psychoanalysis warned us to abandon the infertile opposition between external and internal factors, between destiny and constitution, and taught us to find the cause of neurotic illness regularly in a given psychic situation that can be produce through different paths.” The texts gathered here also show how Freud articulated psychopathological reflection with rich clinical material. This volume has an original editorial apparatus, which helps the reader to bridge the distance that unites us and separates us from Freud.
