Book, Listen: poems[LS]

Death is the main theme of Escuta. Suicides, murders and wars sometimes appear in scenes that seem straight out of the news. It is also significant that one of the sections of the book is titled “Posthumous Memories”, dedicated “to the memory of all lovers/dead in combat”. Texts that condense the most extreme affective states are grouped there. To balance this situation, one of the parts of the book is called “Joy”. The reader then finds himself swept away by an intense beam of colors, vibrations and desires. There is tenderness and lyricism, but also irony and humor. Decidedly urban, the poems cover a vast geography, which can either refer to extermination and annihilation - Rwanda, Congo or Lebanon - or return to a Brazil far from the capitals - Cruzeiro do Oeste, Nova Friburgo, Campos Altos, Leopoldina, Dores do Cloudy. In this book, we take part in a penetrating listening to the world. Extending the limits of lyrical expression to the extreme, the poet set out to encounter experiences, scenes, facts, characters, words, and in everything we recognize contemporary times and spaces constructed by a singular voice. Thus, violence and delicacy, vehemence and construction, silence and turmoil, subjectivity and social emotion are combined.
