Book, Scripture and difference, A[LS]

Scripture and Difference, by Jacques Derrida, is a set of articles and conferences that has a special place among the writings that brought to our readership fundamental aspects of thought and criticism in terms of the structuralist movement. Previously published in the Debates collection by publisher Perspectiva, the collection now appears in the Studies collection, integrated by four more unpublished essays in Brazil: 'Cogito and History of Madness', 'Violence and Metaphysics (about Lévinas)', 'From Restricted Economy to Economy General' and 'Ellipse'. The conceptions of this exponent of the structural approach become all the more objectified as, with this point of view, the philosopher and essayist covers a wide spectrum of topics involved in debates on the subject, such as the analysis of signs and language, currents philosophical, cultural, as well as thinkers who were at stake in the clashes of ideas in the 20th century. Thus, Husserl, Freud, Heidegger, Saussure, Focault, Lévinas, Bataille and Lévi-Strauss are investigated, in the same way as classical metaphysics, in the search for elements that, implicit or explicit, imply or propose causes or sources of the way of thinking and the truth of sign representation.
