Language: Brazilian Portuguese. In modern international historiography, Fernand Braudel, the author of La Méditerranée et le Monde Méditerranéen à l'Epoque de Philippe II and Civilization Matérielle et Capitalisme, needs no introduction. His studies, many of which are collected in these Writings on History, are of fundamental importance as a method and as a result for historical science. They particularly highlight the relationships between History and other human sciences, which provides a new vision, not only of the insertion of man in his past but also in contemporary society.
