Eros in Ancient Greece, by the Swiss Hellenist Claude Calame, sketches, in multiple ways, the profile of this force that the Hellenics deified with the name Eros, making the mischievous child Aphrodite's assistant. Starting from a physiology of love, the study of Eros' actions leads us to interrogate the function of poems and images that represent him, to then examine the institutions that he contributes to maintaining and the spaces where he exerts his strength, producing social relationships. Recovered by philosophers and Orphic adepts, Eros will finally reveal itself as the mediator of true initiatory paths
