Book, Epidemiology and Health Fundamentals, Methods and Applications 1/11[LS]

This work was prepared with the aim of exploring Epidemiology through the articulation of its theoretical-methodological aspects – stages of production of systematic and validated knowledge – and technological aspects – application of knowledge –, distributed on four levels: • Levels of determination: molecular, genetic, clinical, environmental, social and cultural• Stages of the life cycle: childhood, adolescence, adulthood, old age• Groups of health problems: infectious, cardio-vascular, neoplastic, respiratory and mental diseases, among others; violence; abusive use of psychoactive substances; reproductive health; nutrition; worker health and oral health• Applications to health systems: planning, management, evaluation, surveillance, economics, technology and regulation. In this way, we seek to reveal Epidemiology as its own disciplinary field, already recognized as a generator of knowledge and technologies capable of supporting concrete advances in the social health situation.
