Book, Oral Health Epidemiology 2/13[LS]
Descrição
The new edition of Oral Health Epidemiology is completely revised and updated. The first part follows the Epidemiology of Diseases approach, reviewing Brazilian literature on the frequency of more than a dozen outcomes relevant to oral health. The reviews are broad and systematic, becoming mandatory references to diagnose the current situation and identify problems that need to be addressed, both in the field of service provision and research. The second part focuses on future challenges in epidemiology. Persistent themes, such as marked social inequalities – which are as or more striking in oral health than in any other health indicators – are addressed side by side with themes of more recent interest, such as the influence of the life cycle and the impact of health oral health on quality of life and systemic diseases. This section also addresses ethical issues and topics related to the teaching of epidemiology and its applications to preventive and curative services. Finally, the third part provides the necessary tools for epidemiological practice, equipping readers to carry out their own field research. Topics such as instruments, validation, data collection and processing, analysis and presentation of results, and literature reviews are covered.
