Book, Basic Epidemiology 2/10[LS]

Since the publication of the first edition of the work translated into Portuguese in 1996, it has been noted that epidemiology is one of the fastest growing sciences in Brazil, both in medical schools and in health services. It is in this scenario that the book Epidemiologia Básica reaches its second edition. The objective remains the same: to teach basic principles of epidemiology, in order to enable the reader to describe events related to the health-disease process and answer specific questions about causality, natural history , prognosis, prevention and treatment, to avoid diseases. To this end, in this second edition some topics such as the environment and service evaluation were deepened and Chapters 6 and 7 were improved, now also including chronic non-communicable diseases and epidemiological surveillance , respectively. The language remains clear and concise and the examples are simple, practical and come from the most different countries and continents, which reflects the international dimension of this book, in this type of publication.
