Book of Disquiet - by Fernando Pessoa
Book of Disquiet - by Fernando Pessoa
Descrição
The main (but not exclusive) narrator of the hundreds of fragments that make up this book is the "semi-heteronym" Bernardo Soares. A bookkeeper's assistant in the city of Lisbon, he writes without a clear narrative chain, without facts as such and without a defined notion of time. Still, it was in this work that Fernando Pessoa came closest to the romance genre. The themes are still suitable for an intimate diary: the elucidation of psychic states, the description of things, through the effects they have on the mind, reflections and daydreams about passion, morals, knowledge. "I own the world in me, like lands that I cannot take with me", writes the narrator. Its tone is always that of an intimacy that will never find a resting point.
