This edition of Rethinking Politics, now the sixth volume of the collection of Sayings and Writings, presents us with a series of texts in which Foucault anticipated the essential questions that constitute the basis of our current times: the Islamic question following the Iranian revolution, the emergence and the importance of China based on the problems and impasses of the cultural revolution, the very question of revolution and the right to insurrection, the division of post-Yalta Europe, the crisis of “real socialism” in Eastern Europe, the emergence of a right of governed – which constitutes a new Declaration of Human Rights –, the growing importance of the issue of migration and refugee rights following the problem of boat people in Vietnam.
