Book, Ghetto Diary[LS]
Descrição
Janusz Korczak, the educator who preferred to die with his pupils rather than abandon them to their fate, became a legendary example of a pedagogue's commitment to a pedagogy centered on love, understanding and solidarity as means to make children's individual personality and, within it, the ethical values that give meaning to human existence. But on the other side of the myth there was man. And it is the intertwining of feelings, ideas, experiences and coexistence that is drawn live in this Ghetto Diary, which bears witness to it. A pathetic document, written in the midst of the most terrible trials of Nazi terror, saved thanks to a friend, Igor Newerly, who buried him in the ruins of Warsaw and found him again after the war, projects through its pages the profound power of raising awareness of a figure of humanist in the fragmented, impulsive and mysterious exercise of his real humanity.
