In recent years, the incorporation of small and medium-sized laboratories into large networks has made it possible to carry out broader laboratory routines only with automated and fully computerized processes. However, the excess of information provided in laboratory reports often generates doubts regarding the interpretation of the clinical value of the results, confusing professionals in their initial clinical suspicion. Therefore, knowledge of the principles of the tests and the value of the information resulting from the results must be carefully analyzed by those responsible for laboratory diagnosis, so that they are able to clarify doubts and transmit their knowledge to those who need it. In order to collaborate in the construction of this knowledge, we present the third edition of Laboratory Diagnosis. Important changes were made in this edition, starting with the graphic design, extending to the text, which was carefully revised and updated due to the rapid evolution of tests used in clinical pathology. We also seek to answer the most frequently asked questions, as well as clarify the use of products registered with the Ministry of Health, taking into account their limits.
