Book, Political Philosophy Course Birth of Philosophy to Kant 1/08[LS]
Descrição
The book was organized with the aim of expanding students' conceptual repertoire to think and analyze central themes of Classical Political Philosophy. To this end, understanding the construction of a concept within the system of ideas to which it belongs was prioritized rather than its mere historical contextualization or sociological understanding. An attempt was made to make a selective selection of classic themes and authors, seeking to reconcile an approach of systematic thinkers and avoid a generic and fly-by-night presentation. Paying greater attention to authors such as Plato, Aristotle, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau and Kant, the aim was to highlight the existing commitment between the construction of categories specific to Political Philosophy and its metaphysical, epistemological and ethical presuppositions. In this way, the presentation could show that the limits of the system of thought do not find their borders in Political Philosophy itself, but extend to other fields of philosophical thought. After all, Political Philosophy is nothing more than one of the gateways to philosophy in general. The work was assembled in such a way as to allow privileged systems of thought and authors to establish a dialogue among themselves on the topics discussed, as well as maintaining relevance in the contemporary debate. Like any good Political Philosophy course, this one will have fulfilled its objectives if it is able to encourage direct reading of the classics. To this end, each chapter accompanies a guide of complementary readings and fundamental classic texts that can be studied in elements to understand what can be a method of rigorous reading of conceptually complex texts.
