Language: Brazilian Portuguese. Contemporary architecture has missed a fundamental meaning for buildings: in addition to a functional and an aesthetic dimension, it has, through unconscious impulse or ideological design, a poetic and social dimension, an exchange value and not just a use value. It is in search of this 'language of architecture' that J. Teixeira Coelho Netto rebels against architects who 'just babble meaningless things', and proposes that the architect stop being merely a technician and return to being the planner of a meaning for human life.
