Descrição
The definitive version of The Human Condition, more than an answer to the question about how and why totalitarianism was possible, and more than an examination of the relationship between totalitarianism and tradition, became a phenomenology of fundamental human activities in the sphere of life active – work, work or manufacture and action. Arendt begins her investigation with the examination of the relationship between the human condition and the vita activa, defined in opposition to the vita contemplativa, but aims above all to transcend the traditional characterization of activities and the relationship between them with a view to an inquiry into the meaning of their own activities and the transformations in their character in the modern era. This new edition features the Introduction by Prof. Margaret Canovan, English political scientist who has two works dealing with the thoughts of Hannah Arendt. She is Professor of Political Science at Lancaster University. Its Introduction was translated by the presenter and technical reviewer of the Brazilian edition, Prof. Adriano Correia.
