Descrição
Language: Brazilian Portuguese. This book presents the translation of the entry “Geschichte, Historie”, taken from a contemporary classic of History and Historiography: the Geschichtliche Grundbegriffe, a reference work on the history of concepts in the German cultural space, edited by Otto Brunner, Werner Conze and Reinhart Koselleck. Presented here for the first time to the Brazilian reader in its original extension, The Concept of History was written by Christian Meier, Odilo Engels, Horst Günther and Reinhart Koselleck. Its guiding thread is the transformations of this term until modernity. The word “history”, whose first known record dates back to Herodotus, in the 5th century BC, is a heritage of different Western cultures that has been cultivated, expanded and given new meaning for almost 2,500 years. The study closely follows this long trajectory, analyzing the uses of the term and the conceptions of history in force in Classical Antiquity, the semantic rearrangements resulting from its absorption into the Christian cultural horizon, the different medieval historiographical genres, as well as the reconfigurations of historical thought under the influences of the Renaissance, the Reformation and the transformations that gave rise to the contemporary world.
