Book, Orthognathic Surgery for the Orthodontist 3/13[LS]
Descrição
This book is entirely dedicated to the clinician and contains valuable and current information in these specialties, in which research is profuse and advances are rapid. The authors, renowned leaders in their specialties, managed to bring together, alongside the extensive bibliography, all the experience based on long years of clinical and teaching experience. The themes are arranged in a logical sequence in order to inform the reader, through simple and clear language, the procedures at each stage of this long trajectory, in the management of such specific and complex cases. Thus, the initial chapters deal with the details of the clinical examination, obtaining and evaluating the documentation requested to reach the diagnosis, with an emphasis on locating the disharmony. The intermediate chapters address the importance of Orthodontics-Surgery integration whenever orthodontic treatment, in itself, presents limitations that prevent obtaining a quality functional and aesthetic result. After establishing the treatment objectives and planning, orthodontic preparation begins, aiming to correct the dentoalveolar component of the malocclusion. Once this stage has been completed, the pre-surgical evaluation is carried out, and the technique for preparing the cephalometric tracing to predict surgery is then described, as well as the steps for performing drips. In the final chapters, the various surgical techniques in the maxilla and mandible and their combinations are expertly described. The reader's understanding is facilitated by the abundance of drawings and photographs of clinical cases, illustrating the various steps in each phase of treatment.
