Descrição
What is the role of the city in an art form, that of cinema, which, more than others, is capable of presenting it 'entirely' - photographed, represented, recreated, stylized, drawn, painted, modeled or virtualized? The Imaginary City, a set of studies that Luiz Nazario coordinated and Editora Perspectiva Pública in its Debates collection, proposes a theme that touches on several areas of knowledge; and its authors develop it by analyzing key films to understand the concept. The result is a magical tour through the whimsical cities of Méliès, through the Jewish ghetto of Prague; by a Martian city designed by Russian futurism; through modern pre-Nazi Berlin; for the Xanadu that Kane's fortune raised; for the Venices that cinema built and deconstructed; for a house that symbolizes our threatened world; for a city steeped in Latinity; by the frighteningly modern Tativille; by almost uninhabitable eastern megalopolises; and through the other world seen in imaginary journeys that have always been carried out, and that found their most complete form in cinema. The Imaginary City launches a new concept? hoping it resonates in the imaginations of future dream architects.
