Descrição
Language: Brazilian Portuguese. Part of the collection that will publish the complete diaries of Carolina Maria de Jesus, this second volume of Casa de alvenaria covers the period in which the author lived in the Santana neighborhood, in São Paulo (SP), and includes rare or unpublished records. In December 1960, after leaving the Canindé favela and living briefly in Osasco, Carolina Maria de Jesus bought her dream brick house in Santana, where she lived before moving to a farm in Parelheiros. This second volume of Casa de masvenaria includes diaries that extend until December 1963, with content that has never been published or has been out of circulation for decades. Through these records, we follow Carolina's new life, her movement in her home, her travels and, above all, the difficulty of overcoming the barriers of racism and stigmatization to be recognized as a writer. Made from Carolina's original manuscripts, this new edition is an opportunity to get to know one of the greatest Brazilian writers in full and by herself — her dreams, her desires, her literary project and her disappointments. The book includes an introduction by Conceição Evaristo and Vera Eunice de Jesus and can be read independently of the previous volume. “Reading Casa de alvenaria is penetrating the intimate universe of one of the most thought-provoking authors in Brazilian literature.” — from the introduction by Conceição Evaristo and Vera Eunice de Jesus
