Book, Dear Dr. Freud 21st Century Answers to the Letter About Homosis[LS]
Descrição
Language: Brazilian Portuguese. “Homosexuality is certainly not an advantage, nor is it something to be ashamed of, it is no vice, no degradation, it cannot be classified as a disease.” Sigmund Freud In 1935, an American woman wrote to Freud, distressed about her son's sexuality. On April 9 of the same year, he wrote the response that would become not only a historical document, but also a powerful instrument of struggle. Not by chance, the letter would circulate on Brazilian social networks in the infamous dispute surrounding the so-called “gay cure”, showing all its unexpected relevance. Eight decades after Freud calmed that mother's heart, Autêntica invited activists, mothers, children, LGBT and non-LGBT people, psychoanalysts, people from literature, sociology, philosophy, law, gender studies, etc., to meet ask a question: what if Dr. Freud's letter was addressed to you? The result are texts that express the diversity of the various theoretical, political, literary and sexual perspectives of the writers. The letters, sometimes deeply personal, sometimes clearly fictional, bring Freud today's anxieties, telling him about the victories and achievements, but also about the challenges that still remain. And you, reader, how would you respond if Freud's letter were addressed to you?
