Language: Brazilian Portuguese. Until now, unpublished in Brazil, The Beautiful Peril and The Great Stranger are not conventional philosophical texts, they have the uniqueness of providing the reader with the chance to appreciate one of the greatest contemporary philosophers speaking about himself in the first person. Here, a Michel Foucault that was previously invisible to readers manifests itself. The beautiful danger is a great little book that addresses Foucault's emotional relationship with the art of writing – its potential, limitations and dangers. In an interview brilliantly conducted by the literary critic of Arts magazine, Claude Bonnefoy, in 1968, Foucault stands out as a writer, engaged thinker and permanent critic of his own thought. The great foreigner brings records of Foucault's oral interventions carried out between 1963 and 1970 The first texts are transcriptions of two radio programs broadcast in January 1963, in which the philosopher extends his reflections on The History of Madness. There are also two conferences here: one from 1964, on language and literature, and the second, from 1970, dedicated to the Marquis de Sade. The book allows us to discover Foucault as a reader – voracious, demanding and brilliant –, as well as his complex, critical and strategic relationship with literature.
