Book, Belchior: just a Latin American boy[LS]

A revealing book about a fascinating figure in MPB who deserves to be better known to the public. An artist who is sometimes enigmatic, always refined and immensely popular. Color picture notebook. Complete discography. Belchior's death, in April 2017, was a national commotion. Ten years earlier, the artist had disappeared. It was based on the mystery of this disappearance that Jotabê Medeiros began research for a book about the author of classics such as “Velha Roupa Colorida”, “Alucinação” and “Como Nosso Pais”. He conducted dozens of interviews with musical partners, friends, family and producers of his records. Only one Latin American boy brings up little-known periods in Belchior's life, such as the years he spent in a monastery as a teenager. It was there that the artist had his first contact with literature and philosophy and became accustomed to the silence and introspection that would be his defining characteristics until the end of his life.
